Healthcare. Training. Basic Needs. Restoring Dignity

Shining Light Team in Action

Who We Are

Bringing Healthcare, Dignity, and Hope to the Forgotten.

Shining Light Humanitarian Foundation is a registered Nigerian NGO dedicated to providing free basic healthcare, essential supplies, skills training, and social support to vulnerable children, women, men, and elderly persons in underserved communities across the Federal Capital Territory and surrounding states.

Founded on November 22, 2021, and officially registered in August 2022, we believe that every person—no matter how poor, no matter how vulnerable—deserves to be seen, cared for, and given a chance to shine. To date, we have served over 3,300 beneficiaries through medical outreaches, elderly care programs, mental health sensitization at correctional centers, and material aid distributions.

The Founder's Story: Born in the Field

Oluwabusayo Olaopa Soyege

Shining Light Humanitarian Foundation was not born in a boardroom. It was born in the field—in the dusty streets of under-served communities, in the eyes of elderly women who had no one to care for them, and in the quiet desperation of families who could not afford basic healthcare.

For Oluwabusayo Olaopa Soyege, the founder, this work is not just a job. It is a calling. She witnessed firsthand the struggles of vulnerable individuals: children without healthcare, elderly persons abandoned and isolated, and families lacking basic necessities.

"Poverty is not just about a lack of money. It is about a lack of access to healthcare, food, clean water, electricity, opportunity, and compassionate care."

These experiences ignited a passion to act. On November 22, 2021, she founded the foundation and on that very same day, held its first medical outreach, serving over 500 people.

Who She Is

Oluwabusayo is a humanitarian, caregiver, and development professional. She holds an HND in Accounting, a BSc in Development Studies, and is currently pursuing an MSc in Sustainable Development.

She is a certified caregiver, holding the Care Certificate through Pneumat Health Project & Services and Lagos State qualifications, giving her hands-on experience in caring for the elderly. She also holds Project Management certifications from EDX (2019) and Excellerate (2025), equipping her with the skills to plan, track, and deliver community projects effectively.

Originally from Oyo State, she brings a wealth of experience from across the agriculture, renewable energy, and policy advocacy sectors, having worked with organizations including GIZ / GOPA AFC and the Abuja Chamber of Commerce Policy Advocacy Center.

Her Vision Moving Forward

Despite having few institutional donors, she continues to lead with the same passion that started it all—expanding the foundation's reach and developing new programs in skills training and farmer empowerment. Her mission remains the same: to bring healthcare, dignity, and hope to those who have been forgotten.
